Spearhead Iron War Epilogue (Armistice)

Following Atatsu’s removal from New Mobotropolis, the support for the Iron Dominion feel apart. After a brief fight between the Freedom fighters and Dominion soldiers, the Iron Queen was forced to surrender.

With the war now over, Blade and his followers enjoy the brief moment of peace before returning to their original directive.

3 Days after the Liberation of New Mobotropolis
2:30pm

Blade stood in front of the window in his office, watching the parade in the streets below. He turned when the door chime sounded. “Enter,” Blade called out as he moved over to his chair. He wasn’t surprised when Echoes walked inside. “What can I do for you Echoes?”
“I’ve come to get your approval for something.” The grey hedgehog said as he handed a data pad to Blade. “A list of targets.” Blade looked over the list.
“This is a list of names.” Blade said, “Speedy, Predator, Fukurokov, why are they on this list?” Blade asked.
“These are current and future high ranking officials in the Battle Bird Armada.” Echoes said sitting in the chair opposite to Blade. “Mobians we need to capture, alive if possible.”
“So they can be tortured?” Blade asked, putting the pad on the desk.
“No, so that they can be removed from Armada politics.” Echoes said. “We only need to keep them imprisoned long enough to bring effectual change to the Armada.”
“What kind of change?” Blade asked.
“We need to create a dialog between the Federation, the Republic of Acorn, and the Armada. An alliance of powerful nations to fight against Sigma’s dominion.” Blade nodded.
“And removing these officers would make the Armada more susceptible to this plan?”
“The officers on that list are strong isolationists or supporters of the alliance between the Dark Egg Legion and the Armada. If we remove them and help more open minded individuals to power, we could help create policies that would eventually lead to such an alliance.” Blade grinned.
“You want to use our resources to influence another power.” Blade said. “Sounds risky, and like a direct violation of Chancellor Drennin’s orders.” Blade got back up from his chair and looked down at the parade. “It’s a shame isn’t it?” Blade asked. “There they are celebrating the end of one war, while you and I are up here plotting the next.” Blade sighed. “It doesn’t seem right.” Echoes nodded.
“I don’t take pleasure in it either.” Echoes said standing up. “However, I know the consequence if we stand around and do nothing.” Echoes walked over to the window. “All those people down there will die in a hopeless war.” Blade nodded and looked at Echoes.
“Where do we begin?” Blade asked.
“I’ve identified an event in the near future that we can use to capture a couple of these targets.”
“How soon in the near future?”
“Sometime soon, it’s called an extreme gear competition. It will occur sometime after the Iblis event. We’ll be able to capture Speedy and make contact with a group of Armada renegades called the Babylon Rouges.”
“Do we know who’s hosting the event?”
“Not yet, but I have Pixel and Iris looking into it.”
“Very good,” Blade said nodding. “In the meantime, we should put agents inside the Armada. Maybe we can identify some sympathizers in the Armada government. Have Thaderus look into it.”
“I would advise against that sir, I’m not sure we should trust him.”
“Something you know about him from the future?”
“No, but that’s just it. For a mercenary of his caliber to not show up in any historical record is unusual. Also, I had Czar run a discreet bio scan on Thaderus after his first mission. He noticed a slight defect in his trachea so I asked him to run a more through scan to see the nature of his condition.”
“That seems a bit excessive for a simple throat defect.”
“It was at the time, but if I didn’t I wouldn’t have found the changes in his genetic sequences. His genome has been biologically engineered, he’s not a normal mobian.”
“How sophisticated was his alterations?”
“Very, his genome appears to have been constructed from the ground up. Only two powers are currently able to do that, and I doubt G.U.N. would go to the trouble.” Blade turned to face Echoes.
“I would have known, I was in charge of the special mobians division, excluding Team Dark.” Blade crossed his arms. “Do you think he’s a part of the Dark Egg Legion?”
“He hasn’t tried to disrupt our operations. I also doubt he’d be working with Sigma, the Robian Dominion had no record of him so he either didn’t exist in my universe, or he was dead before the uprising began. He didn’t side with the Iron Dominion so I doubt he’s part of the Dark Egg legion.”
“And he’s an organic?”
“Cyborg actually, he has had some modifications done to his skeletal system. He seems to have been intended for durability.” Blade nodded.
“Keep him out of all restricted areas and have Pixel limit his access to our computer network. He could be an Egg Legion infiltrator for all we know. However, he could also be a renegade. Either way, he will be quite useful in the future.” Echoes nodded. “Have we gotten anything useful out of Koal?”
“He gave us the codes we need to bypass their security. It will allow us to infiltrate their territory unnoticed.”
“Very good, keep Pixel and Iris informed.”
“I’d rather you be part of this.” Echoes said. “That way you can stay on top of things.”
“I have other promises I need to keep. Besides, I’m going to be occupied with a more important role for the next few months.”
“I understand Commander, by the way, where are you taking Rilith for the honeymoon?”
“We’ll be taking one of the emissary class cruisers to Shammar and Chun’nun. Regulus will met us in Shammar while Tokrah will meet us in Chun’nun.”
“Is Tokrah the new leader of S’Nal?”
“No, he’s part of Regulus’ house. He’s in charge until the S’Nal house chooses a new leader, and because Regulus’ territory is closer to Chun’nun than we are.”
“Well I hope you have an eventful time Commander.” Echoes said as he picked up the data pad. “I’ll take care of things while you’re away.”
“Echoes, I need you to promise me something. I order you not to interrupt my vacation unless it is of dire importance, understand?” Echoes nodded. “Very good, you are dismissed captain.” Echoed bowed his head slightly and walked out of the room. Blade turned back to look down at the crowd. Blade wished he could share in the joy the people of Holoska felt, but he knew what was coming. Eggman was back in control of his forces thanks to the efforts of Sonic the Hedgehog. Blade was surprised when Sonic would help Eggman escape the Iron Queen, but looking back on it now he should have expected such mercy from Sonic and Sally. With Eggman back in power, the armistice wouldn’t last long. It would take time, but Eggman would try to conquer the world again, Blade was certain of that. Blade tried to push the thoughts of war out of his mind. “I shouldn’t keep Rilith waiting.” Blade said to himself. “The war can wait.”
